Spring 2020
Abandoned Building Brewery
142 Pleasant St #103a, Easthampton, MA
The project will be an audiovisual installation which seeks to educate and engage community members with the ongoing crisis with the Department of Homeland Security Immigration and Customs Enforcement division’s human rights violations of refugees and immigrants. Graphic novel cells from the upcoming "Abolish ICE" graphic novel will line the walls of the venue while multimedia presentations highlight the stories of immigrants and other treated unjustly by ICE. Social justice oriented musicians, speakers and community activists will help bring life and color to the art installation at the heart of the event. The goal of the project is to engage community members into challenging their assumptions and ideas about immigration and human rights in the United States.
David Slavick, an issue advocacy event planning veteran from Washington, DC is the key planner of the event. We will have a number of key new media partners who will help tell our story, promote the event and live-stream the event with commentary to thousands of viewers online. Partners include The Serfs, Cole James Cash, Tre Watson, and Pamela Means, as part of the performance. Notable local presenters Jeff Nepolitano and Ryan McCollum will join the immigration discussion.
