Art workshop and public sculpture created with community participation

August-November 2020
My solo mask/sculpture exhibition at Eastworks MAP Gallery in Feb. 2020 will include a sculpture created with community participation. The piece will combine my own portrait masks with self-portraits painted by community members. Masks and painted portraits will be mounted on a metal grid to create a sculptural quilt, with unique pieces making up a united whole.
A hands-on workshop will be offered during WinterFest, and materials and instructions for contributing to the sculpture will remain in the gallery throughout February. I will be at the gallery once a week to facilitate the creation of additional portraits.
After the gallery exhibition has closed, the sculpture will be re-installed at Art in the Orchard for the 2020 Alumni Invitational Exhibition. Continued community contributions to the sculpture will be possible throughout the Art in the Orchard exhibition period.
