Arcadia Players 30th Anniversary Season
Johann Theile's St. Matthew Passion
Sunday, March 29, 2020, 7:30PM
Our Lady of the Valley Parish
33 Adams Street, Easthampton, MA
Our final concert will be devoted the German 17th-century composer Johann Theile, whose elegant setting of the Passion text from Matthew predates that of J. S. Bach. Arcadia instrumentalists will be joined once again by the singers of the Illuminati Vocal Arts Ensemble, under the direction Dr. Tony Thornton.
Arcadia Players, New England’s period instrument ensemble, celebrates its 30th season with a broad range of early music featuring some of the region’s finest performers. This season we are thrilled to present programs in Easthampton.
Arcadia Players presents music as it was heard by its original audiences, using instruments, techniques and vocal practices of the period. The result is a new musical experience for many listeners as they enjoy the clarity, expressiveness and sheer beauty of the music as it was conceived by its creators. The splendid acoustics of Our Lady of the Valley Parish offer an ideal environment for the audience’s enjoyment and appreciation of this wonderful music.
